Typography Love and a 365 project

I have recently discovered a new interest - creating word art! How does this tie into photography, though? I like to use my photos for backgrounds for the typography. I share these mostly through instagram.

I had the bright idea about 50 days ago to start a 365 project with typography, and plunged right in without giving it too much thought. That usually works the best for me, because I tend to scare myself with my ideas. Once I posted the first one I made the commitment to keep going.

So far it's been really fun!!! Some days I cut it pretty close, but God hasn't allowed me to miss a day yet! As time goes by, I become faster at it too. I pray it's a blessing to those who follow me!

Here are some of my favorites:

Okay, that was more favorites than I thought. :)

Stay tuned for a (somewhat limited) review of my favorite apps for editing photos on the iPhone!

You're all I Need

I made this a week or so ago in photoshop. I haven't been making these in photoshop lately because I found something faster and funner that I could use on my iPod and share on instagram. Phonto is neatest little app, and best of all, it's free! This is one of my favorite songs at the moment, so I thought I'd share it here as well. Every line is special and true for me.

Oft times I’ve tried to live my life
According to my will.
When darkness comes it’s difficult
To rest and just be still.
But Lord, You are my shepherd
That guides me in the way,
And I will learn this glorious truth
If I Your Word obey.

You’re all I need.
You’re the Lord of everything.
All I need –
This is why I humbly sing.
Your strength is sustaining
And your grace has made me free.
You’re my heart’s lone desire,
You’re all I need.

By wanting more I’ve wanted less
Than all You’ve given me.
You gave your all by laying down
Your life at Calvary.
So I surrender all, Lord
My best to You I give.
And thank you now for giving me
A reason to live.

You’re all I need.
You’re the Lord of everything.
All I need –
This is why I humbly sing.
Your strength is sustaining
And your grace has made me free.
You’re my heart’s lone desire,
You’re all I need.

More than enough,
You’re all I need.

Thought-provoking post coming up soon - if God gives me the words!

{It's been so long...}

Sorry guys, I know it's been over a year since I've updated last! I recently saw a friend who lives far away and she reminded me how long it's been since I abandoned my little blog here. You know who you are, and this post is for you. :) I'm going to be redesigning the blog (and relearning Blogger!) and posting a series of highlights from 2012 in the next few weeks.

One of my biggest discoveries and adventures last year was instagram. I was blessed with an iPod on my birthday last year, and it's a big thing for me right now. Sometime in the future, there will be posts from that. :)

I'm also going to dust off my thinking and writing skills. I gave them a long break and it's time to use them again.

For now, because I can't do a post without a picture, here's a few very random favorites from 2012...

Okay, that's only (mostly) from the first half of the year. :/ I have more favorites than I thought!

Until the next time,
Karen

Project 52: Week 52

The end.

It's been a good, hard, bad, long, wonderful year. But God has been faithful, and that's all that matters. Here's a few pictures from the last week of the year:

The last birthday of the year. (Besides Jesus's)

The tree overflowed this year. I'm blessed with a family that loves to give.

She played Santa for a while

We took a short road trip with my brother's fiancèe to visit our Grannie in West Texas. They had gotten snow  there for Christmas and she shared the remainder with us. :)

Project 52:Weeks 50 & 51

More Christmas happenings

I'm ready for Christmas! I got this fun idea from pinterest.

Rainbows in December are a bit unexpected, but it's still a beautiful sign that God does indeed keep His promises.

We had a beautiful fiery sunset the same day.

One of the highlights of my year is making peppermint park for Christmas!

Some of the decorations for my church's Christmas party that my mom planned.

Merry Christmas!!!

Project 52: Week 49

As the year is getting closer to an end, I've been finding it harder to keep up with the posts for project 52. But I'm determined to finish it! Here's a few from last week.

My brother is just a little bit excited about his wedding in March!

School is a little harder to keep going in December

Our Advent calender. I did take this on the 8th.
I've been trying to get this shaped bokeh to work ever since I got my DSLR. I finally decided it only works at 55 or longer lens, so it definitely wasn't working for my 18-55 kit lens. The picture below is *almost there* but it's kinda quirky so I rather like it.

Then I found a snowflake punch, and that was much better.

I love how December sparkles
