You're all I Need

I made this a week or so ago in photoshop. I haven't been making these in photoshop lately because I found something faster and funner that I could use on my iPod and share on instagram. Phonto is neatest little app, and best of all, it's free! This is one of my favorite songs at the moment, so I thought I'd share it here as well. Every line is special and true for me.

Oft times I’ve tried to live my life
According to my will.
When darkness comes it’s difficult
To rest and just be still.
But Lord, You are my shepherd
That guides me in the way,
And I will learn this glorious truth
If I Your Word obey.

You’re all I need.
You’re the Lord of everything.
All I need –
This is why I humbly sing.
Your strength is sustaining
And your grace has made me free.
You’re my heart’s lone desire,
You’re all I need.

By wanting more I’ve wanted less
Than all You’ve given me.
You gave your all by laying down
Your life at Calvary.
So I surrender all, Lord
My best to You I give.
And thank you now for giving me
A reason to live.

You’re all I need.
You’re the Lord of everything.
All I need –
This is why I humbly sing.
Your strength is sustaining
And your grace has made me free.
You’re my heart’s lone desire,
You’re all I need.

More than enough,
You’re all I need.

Thought-provoking post coming up soon - if God gives me the words!

Graven on His hands

"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands" Isaiah 49:16a

That's how much God loves you and me. Enough to engrave us on the palms of His hands, keeping the memory of us close to Him. Absolutely nothing you do can make Him love you more or less. He will never forget us and He will never leave us. He never changes - He's always the same!

Resting

Resting carries with it a deeper meaning than mere waiting. Some situations.... you just have to wait. But whether the wait will be a patient one or a restless, impatient one depends on just one thing: your attitude. Are you going to try to rush things and get grumpy, impatient and frustrated with everyone that comes into your path, or are you going to let Christ change you and give you His gentleness, thoughtfulness and patience? This is impossible to do on our own. The very nature of man is to want "it", my way and NOW. (I'm talking to myself here mostly)

When I am resting, I've fully given up my own will. I'm worried neither about the future nor the present. I have completely let go my worries and anxiety about everything. He holds me up, and I cannot fall while I am resting in Him. Resting is harder than simply waiting, for you can wait impatiently, but resting means handing over everything to the Lord - the cares, the worries, the "when", even the "if". A rested person knows that their own will is probably not the best thing for them. A rested person is not burdened down with impatience because they've learned to "roll over" every care to Jesus. He is more than capable of carrying our burdens, in fact, He longs to take  that weight off our shoulders.  When our burdens are too heavy for us to carry, they're not for Him.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. "   Matthew 11:28-30

(Have I ever said that my God is amazing? Because He is! :))

Live through me

"I take, O cross, thy shadow for my abiding place;
I ask no other sunshine than the sunshine of His face;
Content to let the world go by to know no gain or loss,
My sinful self my only shame, my glory all the cross."
This my theme song for right now. I know what God has called me to do right now is impossible (in my own strength), but I know that He can do all things through me. I just forget so often. I forget to let Him help me through. I'm thankful for the people He sends along to encourage me at just the right moment. Sometimes just a smile or "hello" can make my day. I so often forget too, that other people need encouragement as much as, or maybe more than I do. Since coming to the DMC, I've written a prayer that I pray often. But not often enough.

~Live through me~
Help me love people the way You love them (and me) - unconditionally. Help me see past external attitudes to people's hearts and don't let me do anything that would crush their spirit - even unintentionally. Help me to care about people, not merely projects or chores. Help me forget about myself and what I "need" and help those who are hurting. Love people through me. Use me. Don't let me get in the way of Your Spirit's work in people's lives. Don't let me in my desire to do everything right trample those in my path. Remind me that I really, really need You -- all of the time! Help me to remember and communicate with You throughout the day. Satisfy me with Who You are. Teach me to be complete in You. Help me to think of You and Your goodness more than I think of anything or anyone else. I will trust You with today and with however many tomorrows You give me, because You are trustworthy.

This is pretty generic and could be tailored and used in many situations, not just mine.
